Dorchester Board of Trade
Memorial Scholarships in the Memory of Ed Madden / Joe Langis / Ron Schiffman

  2010 Winner
Elizabeth Lugo
Winner of the 2010 DBOT Scholarship
The Dorchester Board of Trade has established a scholarship which will be awarded to a Dorchester resident enrolled in post high school education for the upcoming academic year. This scholarship is open to anyone pursuing higher education who lives in Dorchester - not only high school seniors.

Originally, the Board awarded one scholarship in the name of Ed Madden, to honor the past president who died in 1996. We have expanded the program to memorialize two other deceased leaders, Joe Langis, our former Executive Secretary, and Ron Schiffman, our former Vice President. All three men were vital to expanding the mission of the Dorchester Board of Trade during their lifetimes.

In tribute to these three men, the Board of Directors has voted to make these scholarships awards in their names.

Interested applicants must submit a 300-500 word essay on the following topic:
Dorchester is the largest neighborhood within the city of Boston.
What else makes us stand out? Sets us apart? Makes us special?
Rules and Regulations:
Must be submitted by June 1, 2011
If you have questions, please contact Lisa Courtney at LCourtney@DorcheseterBoardofTrade.com or 617.398.DBOT.

Scholarship Donation Form:
Annually, the Dorchester Board of Trade awards a scholarship to a Dorchester resident enrolling in advanced education for the coming academic year.

It has become one of the most rewarding projects of the Board. But now, with the increasing cost of education, and the greater demand for financial aid, we need your help to build a larger support system to service our community. It is our hope that with your financial contribution, eventually the Scholarship will be self-supporting.

This year, with your help, the Scholarship Fund can become more successful than ever. Remember, any contribution, large or small, will be greatly appreciated.
